Nimbus Power Systems fuel cell engines support bus applications ranging from highly-cyclic urban buses, to coach buses and articulated buses, which also require high peak power delivered over extended operating periods (e.g. long durations on highways). This range of duty cycles require propulsion systems capable of sustained high power output without sacrificing efficiency or packaging constraints.
Nimbus fuel cell engines are designed to fit within the same physical envelope as conventional diesel engines while delivering up to and over 300 kW of continuous power at higher overall efficiency. This enables fuel cell propulsion to serve as a common direct, drop-in alternative platform for transit and long-distance bus applications, supporting demanding routes, higher vehicle mass, and extended operating ranges.
